Their tarps are imported, so I would like to say "Hey, look at what you get from Tarpstop compared to the others!"
So, while they may not be quite to the same level as the tarps we manufacture here in the United States, our import tarps could be a good option if you need to outfit some new units inexpensively or have company drivers who need a 'just-in case' tarp on the trailer. We are a reputable source for this product, we can repair the tarps, and we have all the goodies to go with them.

2010 Mid-American Truck Show

It's been quite a while. In the midst of getting everything ready for the 2010 Mid-American Truck Show in Louisville, we would like to take this time to keep everybody in touch on what we have been up to.

Flatbed trucking tarp business opens in area

MONROE — A national tarpaulin and cargo control business has joined the ranks of companies that have decided to build in Monroe.
Tarpstop LLC, which is headquartered south of Toledo in Perrysburg, began operating a 5,000-square-foot facility on June 1, off Ohio 63 at 230 Senate Drive, said Dave Poynter, manager of the site.
The company's "niche" market business is providing service — such as Fastrak rolling tarp system, full-service welding and general tarp repair — to the flatbed trucking industry, which includes one-person operations to large fleets, Poynter said.
"We do cater to dump trucks, agricultural and we do some fabrication of shop curtains for industrial areas. We pretty much do anything with cargo control or tarpaulin; we have some sort of product that deals with it," he said.
Besides flatbeds, he said some of the company's clients include coal trucks, dump trucks and farmers. Tarpstop also manufactures industrial products such as shop curtains to divide rooms, tarpaulin to cover baseball diamonds and gym floors and wind screens for tennis courts.
Poynter said Tarpstop decided to operate a service center in Monroe because of its location.
"When you look around there are quite a number of flatbeds and a lot of trucking companies right in here. It's a good location, next to AK Steel, and all the steel
processors.
"It kind of fits our business line," he said.
The site also was chosen to better serve its customer base in southwest Ohio.
"We had a lot of building customers that were traveling 200 plus miles to Toledo to get service and now we're a little bit closer, and hopefully to provide better customer service," Poynter said.
In addition, he said the company also will be able to provide service to flatbeds rolling in and out of the Corridor 75 Park off Ohio 63 and I-75 in Warren County, where a new Home Depot Regional Distribution Facility is being built along with other planned businesses.
Presently, Poynter and a shop foreman are located at the site, but future plans call for another five to 10 employees to hired at the service center, he said.
Hours are 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday and 8 to 11 a.m. Saturday and closed Sunday.

Tarps at Tarpstop in Middletown, OH

On June 2, 2008 we opened our 3rd full service location on Senate Drive in Monroe, OH (Middletown, OH). Middletown, located in Southwest Ohio is midway between Dayton and Cincinnati on I-75, and home of the AK Steel Middletown Works plant. According to the AK Steel website, the 2791 acre Middletown Works is the nation's most productive integrated steel operation. Hmmm... sounds like a good place to locate a full service tarp company to me.

In case you havn't been to Tarpstop yet, "full service" means all sorts of tarps, tarp repairs, installations of Dyna-Lite Sidekits, and Fastrak® tarp systems, huge selection of chains, binders, straps, underbody boxes, cab racks, etc. Not to mention darn good customer service.

Tarpstop's New Shop in Perrysburg, OH (Toledo)

In February 2008 we moved into our new manufacturing and installation center located at 12000 Williams Road, Perrysburg, Ohio 43551. We're located in the Toledo, OH area close to the intersection of I-80/90 and Interstate 75, I-75.
In Toledo tarp systems are what we manufacture and install. We now have 20,000 square feet of building to work with. The increased size allows us to incorporate both of our Northwest Ohio locations into one consolidated facility housing the most sought-after truck tarp systems, cargo control equipment, and metal products for flatbed trucking and dump trucks. This increases our efficiency by eliminating some of the back and forth between the two shops. Additionally, our new shop is a cleaner, warmer, brighter and all around more comfortable and efficient working environment.
We started moving into the new, Williams Road building during the beginning of February, starting with the office staff. We then moved the sew shop, where our flatbed tarp systems, literally, come together, and we finished with the fabrication equipment (press brake, shear and metal working equipment).
Because it’s near the Levis Commons retail center, the future of the prior location has been the subject of rumors -- since before we even moved into it. I have heard it will be demolished to build more retail stores, a Wal-Mart, a Kroger grocery store and most recently, a Rite-Aid. It will be interesting to see what happens.
At our new truck tarp supply and service center, we have what it takes to uphold our reputation as a leading truck tarp manufacturer and tarp system installations facility. We not only have four additional bays, but we have extended them to double trailer depth to allow us conveniently outfit even long trailers with sliding tarps. And we have the space and capabilities to offer tarp installation and tarp repairs on even large fleets of flatbed trailers and semi trucks simultaneously. We have a cleaner, warmer, brighter and generally more comfortable and efficient work environment. Our entire flatbed truck supply and service center is now under one roof for more efficient work flow and communication.
We moved each department one at a time, keeping the company up and running throughout the moving process. The biggest challenge was keeping-up with production and Fastrak tarp installations during the three-week-long moving process while our equipment and raw materials were at different locations. We manufacture, install and service the Fastrak rolling truck tarpaulin system. It is the most rugged and smartly-crafted truck tarp system of it's kind, and demand for the Fastrak continues to grow.
Between our headquarters in Perrysburg Ohio and our second location in Gary Indiana we employ about 50 people within five departments that include fabrication, installation, sewing, sales, shipping, and office/management.
We make all of our custom tarp systems to fit each individual trailer or dump truck. Our dump truck tarp systems provide excellent load protection whether you are hauling gravel, sand or refuse. Constructed with premium vinyl, our Dyna-Lite Sidekits and Fastrak® Rolling Tarp systems offer equal protection to flatbed trailer loads. Tarpstop has facilities for steel and aluminum fabrication of cab protectors, storage boxes and trailer bulkheads. With our extensive sew shop we can make specialty tarps and fitted covers for steel coils and machinery haulers -- any product or custom flatbed truck tarp made to anyone’s own personal needs and specifications.
With the innovations of convertible tarping systems for flatbeds like the Fastrak, suppliers have begun to mandate that their carriers have them rather than conventional tarping of goods. Our customers like the Fastrak rolling tarp system because it’s quicker and safer to operate. Their customers like it because, covered with our heavy duty and waterproof tarps, their product is better protected as it travels to its final destination.

The 'Old' Shop

Our old location was at 12615 Roachton Road in Perrysburg Ohio, located on the corner of Roachton Road and Dixie Highway (Ohio State Route 25). Maggies Restaurant is attached to the front of the building.

That large, old building with the domed roof is a landmark in Northwest Ohio and has a ton of history. It started out as a bowling alley and the Everglades bar in the '60s. In the '70s it was The Dixie Electric Company, and in the '80s it was Buttons Night Club. Just about every customer who came through the door in search of a heavy duty tarp would look around, realize where they were at, and start-in with a good story.

There aren’t too many people in Northwest Ohio that don’t have a good memory or story about that old building... We have some good memories there too, but we won’t miss the old bathrooms with the troughs and plywood stall doors! Even though our flatbed truck tarp business has grown considerably, we didn't move far: We are just one traffic light north and just around the corner from our former location.

Truck Tarp Systems in Gary, IN - Tarpstop LLC

In August '07 we opened our second location in Gary Indiana. Gary is located in far Northwest Indiana and is 20 minutes from Chicago, IL. The city of Gary was created by US Steel in 1906, and still pays a major role in the steel industry.

We are situated about 1 mile West of the truck stops at 6801 Melton Road in Gary (click on the map for driving directions). Stop by, email, or talk to Doug 219-938-8190. We've got pretty much everything that's available at our Headquarters in Perrysburg, OH. This includes the ability to repair tarps, manufacture new custom tarps, and install our Fastrak® Sliding tarp system in our install bays.

The 'Really Old' Shop

Tarpstop began in 2001 (the good-old days) with just 3,000 square feet at the Fort Meigs Business Center on Fort Meigs Road in Perrysburg, OH. As this old photo shows, towards the end of our time at that location it got to the point where we had to move our inventory outside every day to make working room inside. This could get pretty hairy when it would thunderstorm would roll through. Oh well... At least we knew where to get some really good tarps.

We vacated this building in 2004 when we moved to the Roachton Road building. However, as our inventory of tarpaulin systems, ratchet straps, trailer winches, cab protectors, storage boxes, load securement equipment and other flat bed accessories continued to grow at the new Roachton Road shop, we quickly had to expand (again), and ended-up leasing an additional 4500 sf back at this location.
